drjazz_2His love of jazz developed when, at the age of 15, he first listened to Charlie Parker and Miles Davis -- from an album recorded in 1947. He knew then that he was "hooked", and that no other musical style spoke to him in quite the same way.

From the violin, Dr. Jazz then studied the saxophone, beginning with an antique C-melody instrument before moving on to master both the alto and tenor sax.

Enjoying playing various styles of jazz with a variety of musicians, Dr. Jazz's love of music became his driving force.  His greatest influences were Paul Desmond, Stan Getz and Charles Lloyd -- in fact, his first record purchase was a Stan Getz album on the MFP (Music For Pleasure) label, featuring Jimmy Raney on guitar.

In 1997, Dr. Jazz moved to Australia, bringing with him his passion for jazz -- a passion now shared with others via community radio.

Joining Kalamunda Community Radio (KCR 102.5 FM) in April 2009, his programme Ten 'til Late is a blend of styles from artists all over the globe -- from bebop, free jazz, jazz funk, and fusion to smooth.

Dr Jazz’s programme goal is to promote Australian jazz artists, be they vocal or instrumental.
